macOS 10.15 Beta 11 Release Notes
Apple Music, Podcasts, and Apple TV Applications
MacOS Catalina is replacing iTunes with three new apps that make it easier to find and play music, TV shows, movies, and podcasts.
The new Music app for Mac is incredibly fast, convenient, and fun. In Apple Music, users will be able to find new music for themselves among more than 50 million songs, playlists and video clips. In addition, they will have access to all the tracks from the library they have collected - downloaded, purchased and copied from CDs. And collectors will be able to easily purchase the necessary songs in the music section of the iTunes Store - go there with one click.
The powerful new Apple TV app provides a single interface for a wide variety of options for searching and watching movies and TV shows. Apple TV offers Apple TV channels, personalized recommendations, and over 100,000 iTunes movies and TV shows that you can choose, buy, or rent. Users can even enjoy 4K HDR content with Dolby Atmos support.1 In the Watch Now section there is a Next list - it displays what viewers have already begun to watch, and from it you can easily continue viewing on any available screen. This fall, the Apple TV + service will be available in the Apple TV application, in which you can watch original content from Apple by subscription.
More than 700,000 different shows are available in the catalog of Apples popular Podcasts app, with automatic notification of new episodes. In addition, new categories, selections from editors from around the world, and advanced search tools have been added to the app, allowing you to find episodes by the name of the host, guest, or even the topic of discussion.
Users accustomed to synchronizing multimedia content by connecting devices using a cable can easily and quickly do this in new entertainment applications. In addition, when connected to a Mac, the device immediately appears in the Finder sidebar, and users can back up, update, and restore it.
Sidecar function
Sidecar lets you use your iPad as an extended display for Mac or a high-precision drawing tablet in supported Mac apps. Sidecar provides mobile users with the option of expanding their desktop onto two displays for ease of use. And using the Apple Pencil, you can use your iPad to draw and write in any Mac application that supports the stylus. Sidecar is a great tool for editing video in Final Cut Pro X, drawing in Adobe Illustrator, and marking up documents in iWork. Like all Continuity features, Sidecar works wirelessly, providing users with enhanced mobility.
Universal access
Apple is confident that the best technologies are the ones that make everyone's life better. MacOS Catalina introduces new assistive technologies that make it easy for anyone to use their Mac to the maximum. The innovative Voice Control technology allows those who cannot use traditional input devices to fully control their Mac using their voice. Siri's built-in technology is responsible for its recognition, and it also guarantees the preservation of the confidentiality of personal data. New shortcuts and grids give users the ability to interact with virtually any application using full-featured navigation tools. In this case, all sound processing is performed on the device itself. Now the Voice Control function is also available in iOS and iPadOS and allows you to fully use mobile devices,
The gatekeeper feature in macOS Catalina checks all applications for known security issues, and new data protection tools require that they also receive permission to access user documents. The user can easily give such permission - for example, simply by touching the side button of their Apple Watch. Now on all Macs with a T2 Security Chip, an activation lock is supported, due to which computers are becoming less attractive prey for kidnappers. And the new device search feature allows the owner to anonymously and safely find the location of a lost or stolen Mac from their other Apple devices, even if the computer is not connected to the network.
Screen time
The Screen Time feature on the Mac provides users with irmation about how much time they spend in applications and on websites, as well as tools to help them better manage their time. The screen time is adapted to work on a Mac - for example, the new One more minute function gives users time to save files or exit the game. Users can plan the time during which they do not want to use the computer, and indicate how much time they are willing to spend on websites, in specific applications or in applications of a certain category. Thanks to iCloud, Screen Time settings can be synchronized using end-to-end encryption to share the use of iPhone, iPad and Mac.
Even more great Mac apps
MacOS Catalina also has new APIs and developer tools that make it incredibly easy to port iPad apps for Mac. There are already more than a million such applications of various categories, from creative to entertaining, for a wide variety of activities - from office work to programming. Now users will be able to interact with the most popular of them right on the large and beautiful display of their Mac. Applications such as Jira Cloud, Twitter, and Asphalt 9 are expected to be available on Mac this fall.
Additional enhancements to applications
